Gentlemen, I am looking at building the S7 because of it's
features and design. Design selection had to include the load-
carrying ability of the Aircraft. My problem: weight. 2 humans
total 500 max plus full fuel 156 #. About 656. It will be built
and licensed as E/AB LSA w/1320 gross wt limit. Adding the heavier
landing gear rthe AIRCRAFT limit can go to 1550. (of course, no
longer a LSA). Does that mean that the LSA aircraft can safely
carry the 656# (if) it has the heavier landing gear? Don't plan on
flying over gross EVER but is the licensing category the only element
keeping me from being able to carry the heavier load at takeoff?

My understanding and comment is the series 7 can be flown under sport pilot rules if the builder sets the Max gross weight at 1320.

If you mix questions about "Light Sport Aircraft", "Experimental Amateur Built aircraft", and Experimental Light Sport Aircraft" with flying under sport pilot rules the answers will confuse you in a hurry. Almost like playing with fire if you get into that discussion.

John,
I fly the non LSA Model 7 and it is rated with a gross weight of
1550 lb. It does also have the Grove gear. It is registered in the
Experimental Homebuilt category. I too have never flown even close to the
gross weight but I know the airframe and gear can handle it.
