Hey folks,
I've got two questions concerning 801 rear rudder skin. Each question has a photo to go with it.
Question 1: If you notice from the photo, the edge of the very forward bottom corner of the skin appears to be uneven. What I mean is that when the skin was cut out at the factory it appears there was not enough material in the sheet it was cut from to make the skin? It looks like it runs out of sheet at the bottom. Is this normal?
Question 2: The bottom of my rudder skin was cut by the builder assist facility I took delivery of the tail kit from. Looking at photo two, the very rear edge near the fold was not cut straight but in an upward fashion. The builder manual says cut along the pre-marked line but since it was already cut I don't know where that line was laid out. Is this right?
Thanks guys. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Jake,
For question one, it looks like my rudder skin is the same. Your' is not on the rudder yet so I can't tell if it's worse than mine. I guess this applies to both questions, but the important thing is the edge distance of the rivets in the skin. Some times it might make things look better to round an edge here and there as long as the pilot holes line up and the edge distance is correct.
This is my first kit so I'm not an expert, but that is my two cents.
Have fun building

Thanks Chane. I checked the edge distance for the last rivet hole and it's right at 9.3mm (see photo). It's not 10mm but it's more than the 2x the diameter which the AC 43.13 dictates. Interesting that you had a similar problem. I may just trim one side to match the other just for appearances sake.
Can anyone else see Phil's response to this question yesterday? It came as a blank email in my inbox. I'm wondering if it's yahoo giving me trouble. Thanks.
