Yes, I've flown the Pegastol wing on a 701, and I really like it..  Well-balanced controls, feels really nice.  The wing is longer and thinner (only 6" thick), and the ailerons are symmetrical, so much faster and more efficient than the original wing even without slats.  More ribs and thicker skins for no oil-canning, and higher Vne.  The slats extend below the bottom surface of the wing when deployed, effectively increasing the camber of the wing giving the same high lift as the original 8" thick wing.  The slats deploy automatically when they feel the need.  No change in pitch trim or control feel.  In a tight turn the inside slats may deploy before the outside, but no feel of unbalance.  I can't see a problem even if one slat were to jam open.....  In the landing flare the slats do their job really well, for a landing speed that seems much the same as for the original slats.  The slot angle is much more streamlined than the original 701, so much less drag increase.  Feels really good in the landing phase, lots of control and no sudden deceleration.  This aircraft has been flying the Pegatol wing for many years and lots of hours on long trips without any problems.

Zenith approved the Pegastol wing as an alternative, but I don't understand why they don't take it on as an alternative.  That would make the 701 a real classy aircraft!

Now if Zenith offered a Pegstol like wing, none of us would be having this conversation. But I guess some would need to claim that the slats may not extend and that they are not as safe as fixed slats?

Yes, in fact in this issue's newsletter DVD video, Roger at Zenith
demonstrates how/where to install them.

These will be mailed out starting on Monday.

[quote="JohnDRead(at)aol.com"]I am familiar with vgs and how they work. The fact is that a slotted wing is the best way to get STOL characteristics. And I'll repeat vgs make a poor (or under performing) airfoil work better. They will not make a regular airfoil into a STOL airfoil. Find a copy of Abbot and Von Doenhoff, they explain slots very well.

I didnt see anything on vg's in Abbot and Von Doenhoff what pg. John. If this is more than just your opinion please enlighten me as to what reference material you have read regarding vg's I'm always interested in learning more but if you are just trying to argue ill save you the trouble. You win, you are the smartest aeronautical engineer i have ever read a post from.

I do not consider a super cub wing a bad performer and I've seen vg's enhance takeoff sometimes a lot.
