I provide a lot of good and educated information about Kolbs on this forum, and in response I get a lot of questions and comments about what people have done to their planes in email and private messages. One of the most common comments I see is that people want to improve their Kolbs, or have done so, but are afraid to post a report or ask a question that might be deemed " Unpopular " with a certain little group here. They see the constant harassment I get when posting good information about fuel filters, VG's, or any other subject here, always by the same little gang of guys. These guys do a disservice to the Kolb community by offering up one liners with zero factual information, and try to mislead people and attempt to discredit good and factual information I post about Kolbs here. It take a pretty small man that is so threatened by someone else posting good information here, that they need to mislead and distract other members of this forum away from important information about their Kolbs. People do notice the way this small group of guys act, and either directly, or indirectly attack anything I post on this list:

For every person that speaks up, there are many more that are driven away from this list by this constant hostile attitude by a small group of guys. The few of you doing this, you are a disservice to this list and to the Kolb community. This little group claims to be " Offended " by some of the things I have said, yet they post the worst things ever seen on this list, both by volume and content. We all know people will do far worse things when in a gang than alone, and we see this street punk gang type mentality in action here. There is no excuse for their behavior, and just because a few of their friends are egging them on does not make it OK. This forum has some of the worst examples of hypocritical behavior and double standards I have ever seen anywhere. Those of you participating in this, you are killing your own forum, and doing a disservice to the the people that come here for safety and other information on how to improve their Kolbs. Putting your own personal vendettas above the posting much safety information here is a disservice to everyone that reads this list.

Mike

Jim Hauck,

Out of respect for your brother John H, who is one of the finest people I have ever met, I have never disrespected you in any way. Your above post was way out of line and uncalled for.

You know better.

Mike
Please grow up. And shut up.

HAVE SOME FEAR! -- if you're flying so fast you scare yourself, maybe
you're just showing off.

Don't even try to excuse your post because you " just want this to
stop, " because you have ignored much worse posts from all the
others over the past few days, and not said a word. Double
standards, and jumping in with the gang don't do much for your
credibility. You may feel you are " IN " with the little gang
now, comfortable that your little friends are backing you up, but
you know better.

Mike

Jet pilot,

I have been a member of this list for several years and have gotten a lot of good info from the list. Ive not had anyone be ugly to me that I recall. Sometimes I dont get as much response as I would like, but that's just the way it goes. Maybe You could name the ones in this group or gang as You call it ,so I can steer clear of them. I certainly hope Im not one of those youre talking so harshly about!

JetPilot/Mike and Kolb List regulars,

My name is Geoff Thistlethwaite and have been receiving (in digest form)and reading this list for quite some years...some of you long time listers may remember my questions to the list way back when I was building my Firestar II circa 1996 to 99...
I rarely post as there are those that usually get an answer posted before I do.

Before I write what I'm about to I'd like to first thank ALL who post here on a continuing basis...you folks have over the years made this list informative and fun for me to read.

Please take what I'm about to write as constructive criticism.

JetPilot/Mike, you have provided very much good and educational info on this forum, I'm glad you do post here and I hope you don't leave.
However, there is a tendency on your part to have a "chip on your shoulder" attitude. You seem to take anything less than total agreement with whatever you post very personally. If, for instance, someone doesn't buy and install the same type of fuel filter on their aircraft as you have recommended then that is their decision to make. It only throws fuel on the fire when you berate them for not following your advice. Perhaps before hitting send you should take a good look at whatever you have written and check to see that it passes the John Hauck "system" of posting - ie "This is how and why I did/would do it but you should make your own decision on what you want to do with your aircraft"

As to the other members of the list that seem to be unable to let almost any of JetPilot/Mike's comments/advice pass without "jumping into the fray" I gotta say JetPilot/Mike is right that this is a dis-service to the rest of us on the list. If you disagree, fine, state your factual reasons for disagreement and leave it at that.

To all parties involved in the petty name calling that has characterized this list as of late please remember personal insults do the rest of us no good. I have left several other lists, both aviation and pro-audio, because the bickering became so prevalent that the good info gets lost in the signal-to-noise ratio. I'd hate for that to happen to this good source of info/entertainment on wonderful aircraft.
Thanks for your attention,

Geoff Thistlethwaite
