I'm ready to fit up the wings to the fuselage. Is there a sheet in the
drawings or a page in the "Photo Assembly Guides" that describes how to
this? It looks like 7V10 shows a 75mm dihedral. How do I set the incidence
angle? Is the top of the horizontal stab, bottom of the wing, and the
reference E-A line (7F15) all parallel? I assume that the forward edge of
the right/left wing are aligned (no swept angle).

Mark Townsend did a blog on the Zenith Aero website about fitting the wings. I think it entailed drilling the forward holes for the wing spar then leaving the drill bit in place. The rear posistion was set with a string above the main spars by lining them up.

Hey Curt, I have to agree that the plans are a little vague in this area. I just mounted my wings in the last month and had to do some real head scratching to come up with a plan. The fisrt step is to set up your rear spar mount. The fit of the inboard end of the training edge against the fuselage kind of sets where the wing will live.

Once you have the rear of the wing located, run a string down the spar line to eliminate the forward or rearward sweep in the wings and set the dihedral. I am at work right now so I don't know which page it is on in the plans but there is a diagram showing this and some other information there (not a lot).

The incidence angle seems to be set by the location of the front and rear spar mounts and there is not a lot of adjustment there. To set the dihedral, level the fuselage and measure up the the spar string at rib #1. This distance should be 75mm (if I remember correctly).

The biggest advice I can give is don't drill any of the spar holes until you are sure that everything is as close to perfect as you can get it. Start out with a pilot hole of 3/32" and drill out to 5/16 in stages. It is possible to make minor adjustments as you drill the holes out to final size but not a lot.

Make sure that each wing has the same angle of attack as the other. If they are even a little it will act as a propeller and you will end up with a heavy wing. I use a four foot level with a stand off. I leveled from the main spar to the rear spar and adjusted from wing to wing until they were identical. When all was right I clamped and drilled.

That was useful but didn't answer my question about incidence angle. It
seems to me that the angle of the horizontal stab to the wing would be
important.

Yeah I just put my wings on.

In the end I had a water level on the fuse, a water level from wingtip
to wing tip, two tape measures from wingtips to tail, a string from
wingtip to wingtip for the 75mm, horizontal laser level for fuse and
tail and a digital level for incidence. No bubble levels.

It took a long long time.

I found some info in the list archive that indicates that the incidence
angle should be zero. One builder indicated that he have to lower the front
of the horizontal stab by 1/2 inch.

It took most of the day but I got the wings and horizontal stab mounted. My
water level came in real handy.
