Hello everybody!
I just installed the choke bowden cables on my CH601XL with Rotax 912. Although the bowden cables seem to have very little friction and the minimum bend radius of the cables is more than 6 inches, it is very very hard to pull the choke control (in my opinion way to much force required).
Did anybody else experience the same problem?
I installed the choke cable according to plans.
Cheers Martin

Martin--
That was my question 3 years ago and the answer given then is still good. The choke pull will get a little lighter with time C but it will still take considerable effort to pull it fully open. After 280 hours I don't notice it as an issue. Just set the throttle to a full idle position C choke full open the the engine will start fine.
Good luck

To lubricate the cables I bought some graphite. I took the steel cable
out of the guides. I squirted a puddle of graphite on a piece of wax
paper and drew the cables through the graphite and used my fingers to
spread the graphite on the cables. The graphite wore off my fingers in
a couple of days, but is still on the cables after 5 years.

George and Leo
Thank you for your input. I will keep the system as is and just lubricate it a little bit with graphite.

Six years ago when I was installing our Rotax 912S I was warned by an
experienced builder that the choke cable is notoriously hard to pull.
True! I was also told not to worry about it - it will work fine. Also
true! A couple of times a year, we shoot Rust Check (it is a very thin
oil in a spray can, sold at Canadian Tire in Canada, but there will be
counterparts everywhere) into each end of the cable sheath. It seems to
suck its way in along the cable by capillary action. The only problem we
once had was that the choke did not fully release when we pushed it in.
Another application of Rust Check took care of the problem.
