I remember the Langley Wind tunnel. My father worked at one operated by the defence department in tullahoma Tenn. He transfered to Hampton and worked on the NASA tunnel for a few years.
The Langley tunnel was outdated even in the 60's when Dad worked there. They had already transitioned from subsonic to transonic studies. Now the latest tunnel studies are done using "water-Tunnels". Much less expensive, can simulate sub-sonic and trans-sonic conditions.
the Gift of the tunnel to ODC was a great gesture. Thier engineering Department may get some use from it. However, It is far more likely that ODC will gain much more from the Property it sits on, which is orders of magnitude more valuable. And the land doesnt require thousands of dollars to maintain.
