Hi Javier,

What kind of electrical system do you have? The original Russian
generator or an alternator conversion? What you are describing sounds
very much like a voltage regulator failure (or a failure of connectors
if your alternator conversion was wired with connectors...) IF you have
an alternator conversion. I am unfamiliar with the original generator
set up, so I can't speak to that (although there are folks on this list
who can...).

IF you have a B&C alternator conversion, go to the B&C website and
download their instructions on troubleshooting the alternator/voltage
regulator (http://www.bandc.biz/downloads-reference.aspx#S1).

Good luck,

Scott

Hello fellow Yakkers....

So this weekend I went to fly my yak-55 and as after startup and Oil
and Gas Check, I noticed the Volt gauge close to 10 volts and
decreasing...

I gave it a few minutes while I let the engine warm up, voltage remain
low, I increased engine power up to 65% and saw the Cylinder Temp
coming up to the bottom of yellow, tried to use the radio and it
crackle a bit until it went absolutely silent, then the only other
electric instrument I have, the Engine tach reset it self as it does
when u turn the switch off and back on, at that point I did a normal
engine shut off.

So I think this is an alternator failure, does anybody have the
contact info for an AP that can work on Russian engines/electrical system?

Thanks,
Javier Carrasco
