Hi:
My right tank, on my rv6a is leaking, I tried puting Pro seal on the out side , that does
not work.
Need the best way of doing this, and of course, if possible the easiest...
Is a pain removing all thos bolts..

My tank was leaking just through the leading edge rivets. My mech put on, very tightly, a sort-of plastic tape substance (with no air bubbles) - three years ago and I've had no leaks since. Will get the name of the stuff if you want it, but it looks like very basic stuff. If your actual tank is leaking elsewhere then I suppose (sort of obvious) this won't work for you without taking all the bolts out, anyway.

Nedd help, have my right tank on my rv6a with a small leak..
I did tried using proseal on the edeges, lthat did not work, or I did a bad job..
Any sugestions from those with experience on this problem?

I have posted this before, keep getting a message rejected. don'[Tknow why.
here is again...
I need help, with suggestions ideas , I have one of the tanks on my rv6a is leaking..
it seems, to be on the inboard side (fuselage side) right tank..along the rivets...
Appreciate any advice, or suggestions to solve this..

Check the fuel sender plate first. these tend to leak and are easy to reseal without removing the tank. If your leak is showing at the fuselage wing intersection.

I just fixed mine and was successful in stopping 12 rivets from weeping
|
and/or leaking on the right tank of my RV-7A. I spent far more time
trying to come up with an easy fix than it took to fix it once I finally
gave up and removed the tank.
My procedure was:
1. Order the MK 319 BS Monel pulled rivets from Wicks.
2. Use the extra tank end cover, that Van's sends for the sender you
didn't use, as template and cut an access opening in the rear baffle,
drill mounting holes and install nut plates.
3. Make a new cover from .040 aluminum.
4. Drill out the leaking rivets.
5. Vacuum out the drill shavings from drilling out the rivets.
6. Mix up Proseal and cover the drilled out rivet holes both inside and
outside.
7. Put in the pulled pop rivets.
8. On the inside of the tank, using an acid brush, smear the Proseal
liberally over and around the new rivets.
9. Smear Proseal liberally around the sealing surface of the new access
cover and over all of the screw holes.
10. Screw the access cover on and set aside for several days while the
Proseal cures.
11. Don't worry about the Proseal that you liberally smeared on the
outside over the new rivets.
12. After the Proseal has cured, use a single edge razor blade to remove
most of the excess Proseal on the outside. Remove the rest with a
vibrating sander with 180 grit open coat (grey) sandpaper.
13. I went ahead and re-painted the tank and re-installed it on my plane.
14. You will notice I didn't leak test the tank after the fix. I think
my original leak testing was part of the problem. I had already decided
that "it is what it is." If it still leaked it was just going to have
to leak until Spring.
The whole process including the curing of the Proseal took three days.
The fix was done in just a few hours. Quit trying to come up with a
quick cure and do it right.
