Even though this is really not “Lightning” related I just wanted to let you all know that I flew my Zenith 601XL for the first time tonight. This has been a long 6 year, 8 month journey during which I spent over 1500 hours building my plane. To finally see it come to fruition is something that is hard to put in words.  

Many thanks to all of you that had encouraging words. They were all taken to heart and helped me continue to finish this project.  

I look forward to seeing all of you at the fly-in on the 10th of October and I hope you don’t mind that a “beer can” airplane mingles amongst you at this event.

Mark C   Congrats on finally getting the Zenith in the air!  I think that your ability as a craftsman in both metal and composite aircraft should give those doing a builder assist a warm fuzzy as you do excellent work in both.  I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it.  We'll have to go up sometime when I'm there.  

In other news not related to the Lightning C I finally have enough doctor's notes and the feeling better that I should be able to get a new medical and get back in the air.  I never lost my medical C which should make it easier C but did go through a ton of medical tests to check me from head to toe and beyond C went through some nasty rounds of meds C and now am starting to feel a lot more like my old self again.  I've flown 31 different types of aircraft so far and always looking for another if any of you folks are ever down my way in Houston with anything different.  I've got 5 more here to fly before the year is out C all of them really fun.  I'm also looking at adding on a helo rating if any of you have experience in flying both fixed and rotary wing and want to talk about it you can email me at my personal email.  

Again C congrats Mark C I know it's been a long time coming.  The question you've got to be asking yourself now that you're done C "what am I going to do with all of this free time now?"  Have fun C Brian W.

 Doing well C thanks!

 Went to my first Oshkosh this year...was a really great time!(Been to S-n-F many times C but not the big "O")

 Got to meet some new Lightning folks and see some of my old buddies.

 Romeo Bravo is doing well C just do not get to fly her near as much as I like.

 Sorry to hear of your physical challenges C hope everything is going well for you now.
