The text of your msg does not show, unless I ask Gmail to "show original" (pasted below).

Capacitive probes have been discussed in the past, check the archives.
I remember the one thing against them is that if you use a fuel different from the one with which you calibrate it, the reading will be inaccurate.

Have any of you used the Skysport Capacitive Fuel System, which is now owned by Aircraft Spruce?
The float system provided with my 601XL with extended range tanks is designed to mounted on top of the tank (not the one shown in the building guides). Regardless, it seems that a float system for a long tilted tank mounted near the wing root will not register any change from full until a significant amount of fuel has been used.
The Skysport system can have a long capacitive measuring tube that extends from the low end near the root to the high end towards the tip. Seems like it would be much more accurate. Anyone try it? Thanks.

I used the skysport on my 601, and found it very accurate. Carlos may
have a point about the different fuels, I don't know. I mounted it from
the high end, with the probe running the full length of the tank to the
bottom.
Using it with the Dynon, and I trust it totally.........Fred Sanford

Carlos is right about different fuels affecting capacitive probes differently.

The dielectic constant of fuel varies from fuel to fuel.

However, the question I would ask is whether the variation in dielectric
constant impacts the accuracy of the reading more than the basic inaccuracy
of a float type fuel gauge. Float gauges aren't very accurate.

I also wonder how many different fuels (and hence, dielectric constants) we
really have. How many different fuels do we use? The only two I'm currently
aware of are auto gasd and 100LL.

I used the skysports capacitive fuel probe in my 3 gal header tank on my 701. I have it set that if I use about 1/2 gal of the 3 gal, it gives me the Lowfuel alarm which I have connected to a flashing red LED in my panel. one other neat feature is that if your battery voltage goes low, the capacitance changes and it also sets off the warning light.

Good points Jim. I wonder if there are folks making their own fuel from
soybeans? Always something else to consider.
