What is the reason for moving the fuel sender to the side? It seems at the very least more leak proof on top.

And for those with the optional 7-WTA-1 wing tank cover two questions:
Can you remove the tank easily through the opening?

Can you use two per wing for dual tanks?

I ask because I am thinking of a second set of covers just in case I want to add a second set of tanks later.

Thanks

Kevin

What is the wta tank cover. I emailed zenair last week asking about an access panel on the top of the wing because I have serious issues burying the fuel tank. I was told no panel on top but I could make the top skin in two pieces and put an access on bottom between root and no.1 rib. Curious if anyone has seen other options.

Kevin,

The wing tank access cover shown in the plans is what I am planning on doing with my wings. I see no problem with using a cover as shown. And it beats removing the whole top skin or half of a top skin to get at the tanks if necessary.

This is not even shown in my plans, someone emailed me the above pic. I guess my question is can it be made for dual tanks too. I did yesterday on the Zenith builder site see that Ken P has dual tanks and a big opening in the skin, so presumably a big single cover.

Kevin,

Since I'm at my work computer, the zenith.aero website is filtered as a "social networking" site and won't display any of the pictures. I do get the text, but not the pictures. So if you it's possible, could you please attach the photo of Ken's wing tank cover to this topic string. This site is not filtered.

Thanks,
Bryan

Just split the skin (lap joint) at the rib outboard of where the aux. tank goes that way you have one section of wing skin that can be removed that will expose both tanks and pluming behind the tank support and the plumbing at the main tank..... fuel leaks are a pita and there is no better insurance than easy access in my opinion
