What lubricant/grease should be used to lubricate the little bearings on the ailerons, rudder... I think on the elevator also.
I almost finished with my paint-job. It looks fantastic. Now I am re-assembling.
I just saw on a Zodiac site that there is a re-assembly checklist for the 601. Is there such a list for the 701.
Is there a drawing or list of instructions/dimensions for validating the wings after re-installation. All I see in the drawings is that a string stretched from wing-tip to wing-tip should have a certain offset from the top of the wing at the first line of rivets. Is there more.
Thanks for all your help.

Earnest,
There are two options for this. One is to use a general lubricant, such as motor oil. The other is to replace the bearing material with an oil impregnated bronze bearing. The bearings on the surfaces you mention is 1/4 OD and 3/16 ID. I think you can find this material at places like McMaster-Carr.
One of the contributors on this forum has said the he got approval from Zenith to substitute this bearing material for the supplied bearing material.
Please post pictures of your airplane after the re-assembly.
Good luck and do not archive my posts.

Lubricant I've been using is CRC Tac-II which is a spray on compound where the propellant carries the lubricant into the bearing before evaporating off. The mechanics used a similar product Wurth2000 on Cessna aileron hinges, that traditionally were lubricated with graphite - not the best combination with aluminium parts I'd have thought

Ralph,
Where do you get this lubricant? I see it in Australia and the UK, but not
at Spruce.

For what it's worth I use low viscosity (85 or 90) gear lube, like you would use in your Rotax gear box. It is the best for smooth operation that I have found, bar none. One drop on a small bearing will last a long time. I tried several different lubes on our hanger door hinges. when I lubricated them with gear lube I couldn't believe how smoothly they operated and it lasted a lots longer then anything I'd used before. It will make your airplane stick and rudder pedals feel like silk.

to Les,
The CRC TacII chain lubricant and the Wurth2000 product are both sold in aerosol cans in NZ. As CRC is available in many countries you should be able to locate a similar formulation at a motorcycle, car or industrial supplies outlet. It may be labelled as a dissolvable grease. It worked well for the rod ends and bellcranks in the Cessna and I use it on all the 701 bearings, turnbuckles and external bolts&nuts as to keep the humid environment away.
