Greetings All,

I wanted to take a moment to echo previous comments about Jabiru USA's engine seminar.

I attended the engine seminar last weekend and I must say I was thoroughly impressed! Pete, Nick and Mark did an excellent job of presenting every aspect of this fine little engine. Every individual engine part was described in detail and was passed around to each attendee for close inspection. Each system (lubrication, ignition, induction, exhaust, etc) was also described in great detail, including the Bing 94 carby. Each member of the class completely disassembled and rebuilt a Bing carb. Operation of the carb and aspects of how to properly tune it for a particular airframe was also discussed at length. Perhaps the most enlightening portion was a discussion of the cause of failures that have occurred using the actual failed parts that have come back to Jabiru USA (primarily from owner abuse) to describe and vividly illustrate what to do, and more importantly, what not to do.

Each attendee participated in valve removal and installation, and piston, cylinder and head removal and installation. Engine reassembly, including engine timing, was thoroughly covered, along with regular maintenance issues and procedures, and installation hints and tips. The atmosphere was informal. Questions were welcomed and answered in depth. The hospitality of the Jabiru USA crew simply could not have been better. On the final day after class ended we were invited to tour the Jabiru USA and Lightning LSA manufacturing areas where numerous aircraft were in various stages of build. Lunch was provided both Friday and Saturday and a Saturday night dinner event at a local eatery was arranged for all attendees.

Whether you are new to the engine, or have a few years experience with it like me, I would highly recommend going through this course. Regardless of your level of expertise, everyone will learn something from this course. My confidence level with this engine has gone up exponentially and I met some mighty fine people in the process. The course is well worth the price and you won't regret taking the time to attend.

Many thanks to Pete, Nick, Mark and Dana for putting on a fine event!

Regards,

John
I am new to this. How do I find out when these classes are? When ordering a part from Jabiru I up dated the new ownership of the engine. I would have thought that would have put me on a list.
Thanks

BOB

Pete at Jabiru USA generally posts an announcement on the Jabiru engines list on Yahoo. You can also look at their web site: www.usjabiru.com. I don’t know if Pete is on this list.

Hi Russ,
thanks for the info on the seminar in Phoenix. I was not aware they got enough people to go ahead with it. What are the dates and place if you have that info? Are you from the Phoenix area. I live in Phoenix and will see if Pete has anymore room for the seminar.

Thanks
ivan

John,
Thanks for the report on the Jabiru Seminar. Now if they would hold one on the West coast, I believe there would be a lot of interest.

Hey Mack

They have these seminars fairly regularly, although I was told that the one coming up in Phoenix is the first time they've "taken the show on the road" so to speak. You will need to contact Jabiru USA in Shelbyville, TN, directly for details, times, and payment information. There is a syllabus of the course material, a listing of local motels, etc., on their web site. From the homepage, click on "Service and Support", then "Engine Seminar" for all the details.

John,
Thanks for the info. Since I live in the West, Phoenix is fairly close and
sure a lot warmer this time of the year - so it would be a good time to take
in a seminar.
Thanks again,
Mack
