About a month ago there was some discussion and photos of a shutter posted on the Rans S7 Yahoo forum.

On this subject of over cooling the oil, has anyone tried or are using a thermostatic bypass valve ? The oil temp would be regulated within a range that would be suitable in all conditions. I remember seeing this used in the automotive aftermarket. The valve was located in the oil filter mounting adapter and maintains 180 degree oil temp, no shutters needed. Don

Don,
I installed a oil thermostat that I bought from Lockwood. The oil
temperature gets of to 180 deg. in about 10 minutes even on very cold winter
days here in Vermont. It also maintains 180 deg. when flying in temperatures
that are in the minus numbers, something that I don't think would be
possible without it.
