CPS sent me 5/16 bungee cord instead of 3/8, and they are replacing it. But just out of curiosity, would there be a problem if I made up LG bungees of 5/16, using 8 or 9 loops instead of the 6 loops for 3/8. Seems like it might be easier to install.
Second question, is there any difference between the bungee cord I get from CPS or ACS and what I might buy from Ace hardware?

Jim,
At one time, the earl Kitfox factory had difficulty getting the 3/8" bungee
cord and did supply the 5/16". I don't recall how many loops in the
thinner setup. Regarding ACE hardware. I am almost certain that the
bungees you will get from any of the aircraft suppliers will be a mil spec
version. This typically has two layers of cotton woven to provide the outer
shieths. I guess you could try it.

You might want to order both the 5/16" and the 3/8", based on my
experience with what I received from Spruce.....the 5/16" was
stronger than the 3/8". (I wasn't sure what size I wanted a couple of
years ago, for my ski rigging, so I ordered three sizes.)

Jim, here's the information in a letter I received with my Classic 4 kit.
"The 3/8" diameter cord is 66" long and requires six wraps.
The 5/16" diameter cord is 90" long and requires thirteen wraps."
The bungee cord I bought at ace hardware...to make a snow bungee, not to use on my kitfox...has a very stiff and abrasive cover. I think it would act like a saw on aircraft tubing.

Tom
I guess Ace stores do not all stock the same cord as mine was very slick
polyester. They are four years old now and need replaced.

I just got in 100 feet from ASC of 3/8" cord.
I think it might mike just over 3/8 though.
Will take a pic later.
MIL spec Cord is much more firmer than the cheap hardware store stuff.
Make a loop and pull it or hang from it . Big difference.
Need a video? LOL
BTW more Kitfox vids up this week ......

Yellow, yellow, yellow = First quarter 2009.
Yellow, yellow, blue = Last quarter of 2009.
Do I have the code correct?

I don't think so.
43.13 reads:
TABLE 9-1. Bungee cord color codes.
YEARS ENDING
WITH
COLOR
0 or 5 Black
1 or 6 Green
2 or 7 Red
3 or 8 Blue
4 or 9 Yellow
QUARTER COLOR
1st Red
2nd Blue
3rd Green
4th Yellow
c. The color coding is composed of
threads interwoven in the cotton sheath that
holds the strands of rubber cord together. Two
spiral threads are used for the year coding and
one thread is used for the quarter of the year
sheath, e.g. yellow and blue would indicate
that the cord was manufactured in 1994 during
April, May, or June.
therefore, yellow, yellow, yellow would be 4th qtr of 2009 and yellow, yellow, blue would be 2nd qtr of 2009. (assuming that I am reading correctly)

You probably are correct. I blue it. Your chart is less confusing. I always seem to get it wrong using the FAA version.
