Marco,
It sounds to me that there is a possibility that the slides are not able to bottom out. Try loosening the "slide adjuster" knob while looking into the carb and ensure that it is flush with the wall of the carb so that it will not contact the slide. Then, bring the throttle to idle and see if the slide is flush with the bottom of the carb, or is there still a gap? It sounds like your throttle cable may need to be adjusted to allow the slide to sit flush with the bottom of the carb. Once you can do that, then the idle adjustment screw (knob) can be turned in to achieve the desired rpm. As it may be now, the throttle cable is lifting the slide up enough whereby the idle adjustment does not even contact the slide, thus has no effect. I have been able to adjust mine for a 1500 rpm idle, but I did have to adjust the cable at the top of the carb.
Hope this helps,
Larry
"Ok, so I've gone with leaner idle jets (50 from 55) and adjusted the air
slides down as far as they go and I still can't get idle rpms below 2500.
I've just installed a gearbox clutch so I'd like to get idle down to where
prop doesn't engage. Should I go to 45's with the idler jets or is there
something else I haven't tried?"
