Dwight, I was thinking the same thing a couple of days ago. Thanks for testing. Maybe the Kitfox Matronix era has ended and everyone has switched to Team Kitfox. With the ease of using the Matronix website I doubt that though.

Did you forget what time of the year it is? People are either off visiting or working on their project. It's always been this way.

Actually, most of us are sitting around trying to figure out how to deal with the year end tax bills!

Wow, does the US tax system work that way? That your taxes are due right at year end? I've just received my annual greeting card from Revenue Canada reminding me that between now and spring I'll have to deal with supporting my government. It would be easier if I had one that actually believed in a single thing I did, I can't remember the last time that happened, but this guy is the worst ever.

Yeah, I'm still out here. Throwin' wood on the fire as the snow piles up outside, wishing I had skis and cabin heater.

No Dave, April 15 is tax day in the US.

Doesn't stop us from gnashing of teeth beginning January 1, however.

OK, then that can wait for spring then. Since my 'fox can't fly right now I'll return to my task of making all these bottles of Innis&Gunn into empties. Hell, somebody has to do it. Have a great New Year everyone, all the best.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Marco, for the spelling of
"gnashing".....I wanted to use that term yesterday, and couldn't find
it under nashing, knashing,....finally used "grinding teeth"

It's HELL to get old! But better than the alternative...

Same here, Marco....on the burning of wood that is, and I just
improved my cabin heat considerably. Since I built an updraft intake
manifold for my Jabiru engine, I got rid of the muffler (the Rotec
TBI was now in the way) and now have straight pipes (which are not
ALL that noisy), around which I have built a longer heat muff, and
I'm now getting 150+ degrees of heat coming into the cabin from that
one heat muff. The other side is only putting out about 73 degrees,
so I just shut it off...it seems like fresh air by comparison. I was
up flying the other day, and the OAT was 12 F., and I was warm enough
in tennis shoes and no ski pants.

Here, we have various tax collecting authorities including primarily State and
Federal. The tax returns cover various periods but primarily they are quarterly. And
that means that the tax returns are due something like by the end of the month
following the end of a quarter or maybe by the 10th. Everyone is required to have paid
Federal taxes by the 10th day following the end of a quarter and that means filing an
estimated tax return for some people. People with employee income usually don't need
to file a return because they have had sufficient taxes withheld from their paychecks
but in the case of a self employed person or business owner such as Deke, he will have
an estimated Federal Tax return due plus his State Tax return due for 4th quarter
2009. Most people and companies have April 15 as the due date for annual Federal
Income Tax return. That applies to most people since their tax year is the calendar
year. Some businesses elect to have a tax year that doesn't correspond to the calendar
year. So this is probably not a lot different than it is in Canada.

It is kind of fun hearing about all you guys wining about the snow and cold! When I am down here dying from the summer heat, I often think of snow. Well, I am in my element now !!! I am flying pretty much every day. Most days in a T shirt (unlike Lynn though, I wear my pants)
I hate it when Christmas passes as I know it won't be long until the Groundhog brings us summer (need to shoot that sob !)

I figured *somebody* would twist my words around....nah, I only take
my pants off when I've got a female co-pilot aboard....and then it's
just to show her my pretty legs. : )

Like you, Dick, I got a short flight in today...cold, windy, and a
threat of snow. Good training weather for making those cross-wind,
one-wheel landings (not enough snow to warrant putting the skis on yet).

Everyone and every climate is different Dick. Winter seldom arrives in Nova Scotia until after Christmas so we are not really into it yet, and I wouldn't trade it. Fall is my favourite season and you haven't lived until you have flown over a forest area in brilliant sunshine in late fall and anything over 68 is a little warm. So while we may have snow you have giant cockroaches, cubans, winter immigrants and hurricanes. Too high a price for a little sunshine in my opinion. But if it suits you, then both of us are happy.

Of course in the spring we have the dreaded blackfly season, buggers.

Hey Maddox,

While you were rubbing it in for our Yankee brothers you did not mention
flying low and slow over the Florida Keys this morning with the doors off,
BAREFOOT with the orange glow of sunrise reflecting off of the glassy waters
of Florida Bay and the Gulf .

Swooping low over the pods of dolphin that were jumping, twisting, splashing
and frolicking, the spotted rays cruising the crystal clear shallows, the
Pelicans diving on the bait fish being chased for breakfast by the pelagics
and waving back at the the young ladies on the beaches around Key West, who
were waving thier hands or bikinis at the cute little airplane as it
puttered by.

By golly, my hat's off to you real men who fly onto your favorite frozen
lakes on skis up north and fish thru holes in the ice. My old blood is way,
way to thin for that kind of fun anymore.

Just put the Kitfox away in time to enjoy another spectacular sunsert over
Florida Bay, sipping a favorite drink by the pool and listening to a Jimmy
Buffet tune. Life is good.

Best wishes for 2010 to all.

Such shenanigans do not require real men or a strong constitution, it's
really very nice out most of the time. It's often up into the thirties even
in the dead of winter here and I can sit outdoors and enjoy a coffee quite
nicely. You want a real man (or it might be a form of insanity) look at the
lobstermen who go out to sea and pull traps in this weather. There cannot be
a worse place in the world than a wet deck in the Atlantic ocean. I wonder
that they make it back to shore.

OTOH I do hear that Florida in the summer is only three degrees cooler than
Hades and more humid, that would thin your blood a little.
