- it's 12.5 Mb though so I doubt it will email - could send on disc if of
any use.

Steve - as Brian Davies says, we only have the XS manual available.
AFAIK the Classic manual was never seen in the wild as a PDF.

Obviously it originally existed as a soft-copy at the factory
(although drawings might have been hand-originated), but the version
control seemed a bit sloppy in the early days, leading me to suspect
that some early pages got over-written rather than archived when
superseded. I don't know what software tool was used to write the
manuals. Of course some soft-copy (such as customer records!) was
lost (read: destroyed before the chopper left the roof) in 2004.
Don't know if Roger is still monitoring this forum and could comment.
Or maybe Andy Draper could tell us, if he had a minute to spare - and
come to think of it, he might just have a copy of the original manual
tucked away somewhere. LAA Engineering must have seen the manual to
approve the design and insert the inspection points, so even if Andy
doesn't have his own copy, there should be an authentic copy in the
LAA Engineering files. Their archives were digitised some time back,
so maybe that is the best place to start hunting.

My own attempts to contact Engineering by e-mail have so far been
totally unsuccessful so perhaps someone else might take this forward
- Ian Rickard? If they've got it, seems an argument could be made for
releasing a soft-copy of the Classic build manual to the Europa Club,
simply on the grounds that the Club could field queries in the future
and thus save LAA Engineering some time.

regards

Rowland

Hi! Rowland./SteveD.
Where is the guy who wants the classic manual?
I have a trike manual and should have a mono manual but "cards on the table"
I'm very sensitive about parting with either.
I'm not going to verify having the second one at present since it is in a
place which is likely about minus 5 degrees !
I've been bitten before with supplying photo negatives etc. and even a video
of the re-assembly of the Blackburn Beverley, people just get blank memories
and don't make the ultimate commitment to you and if they make the
commitment they don't live up to it. Not withstanding it is a valuable item
when you are selling your completed bird on.

Any possibility of uploading it to the Europa Forum?
That would make it easy for anyone needing it to download.

Just a thought.

As you say, as far as I know the Classic manual was never seen in the wild
as a PDF. My knowledge does not go back that far but from the XS on I
believe it was mostly a Word document.

I will be happy to approach LAA to see if they have a copy which we could
borrow and turn into a PDF. This would be an image PDF so it will be quite
large. I am happy to do the conversion but it will take a week or so.

Do any of our members have a copy we could borrow. I seem to remember a
number of committee members have some very early kit numbers.

Ian

I have a classic manual dated January 1996. You are welcome to borrow it.
It is in an A4 ring binder - if you had a double sided scanner it would make
life easy.

Pete

Thanks everybody, I pointed Phil in the Europa Club direction. I have the Combined Builders Manual on PDF. I had it posted on EuropaOwners for awhile but removed it when Europa posted it on their site.

Click Builder Assistance on the left Then click the Manuals tab.

Thanks,

Steve - my impression was that the combined manual only came out at
the time of the XS and the "combined" part meant it covered both
monowheel & trigear, rather than Classic & XS.

Of course, I could be wrong (it happened once before!).

As Rowland said, there may have been simple Manuals for the Classic without including the triGear model.
I have one (for 1997) which has no mention of three wheels, so he’s right.
Cheers, ferg
PS: It ain’t PDF’d. [quote][b]

I am collecting an copy of the old Classic wing manual today. I hope to have an updated (including references to Mod 74) version available in a week or so.
