over the Christmas break was able to have a look at a couple of problems on our 52 and found the following
Gen out light staying on all the time , found a couple of wires broken of a relay in the electrical box that contains the reverse current relay.Re-soldered the wiring and all good.
Emergency air going down in about 3 days. Pressurize system and went around all the joints with soapy water found leak on emergency air valve in front cockpit.Remove valve and dismantled and found o ring gone hard and cracked.
Aircraft would not start on booster coil.Removed the coil from aircraft(real fun job) and filed points and set up unit to bench test.Tested unit on bench all good and reinstalled in aircraft.Tried to start again but no success.Aircraft will fire up on the mags and run fine but will not start on the booster coil.after pulling the mag cap apart again and making sure that the high tension lead from the coil is terminated correctly and everything else is looking as it should be gave up and drank alot of beer.Had a thought in the middle of the night that it could have something to do with the plugs even though they run OK on the mags.Removed all the plugs (automotive type) and bead blasted, gaped (.022) and washed out.Installed plugs and tried again hey presto it all works.
Hope some of this info can be useful to someone chasing similar problems

regards steve

Next time you pull the mag cap off on the left mag, remove the starting coil wire and test the starting coil and wire's ability to jump a spark to ground. It should jump almost 1/2". To do this without having the engine turn over when you press the start button, turn off the main air valve and bleed off all the air forward of the main air valve by squeezing the brake handle until there is no more air in the system. Then test the starting coil wire's spark. You said you restaked the starting coil wire which made no difference. If it doesn't jump 1/2" (or none at all), that's the primary reason it won't start on the starting coil. Replace the starting coil wire. You can purchase 10' of Hypalon 5 mm copper core wire here. http://www.mfgsupply.com/m/c/24-8776.html

Also try cleaning the starting coil wire contact in the mag cap AND clean the starting coil ring on the rotor.
