503 owners can show me some two if there are any out there.
I have gathered all the parts to install an oil injection system except the oil reservoir and lines. The aircraft Rotax tank and lines look nice and I would like to see how some you have mounted it.
My other option is to go down to the Ski Doo shop and get an oil reservoir, filter and lines for an air cooled engine. I can get one that is 2.5 liters which is plenty for my 21 gallon fuel capacity. From what I have seen in the catalogs I can get one for about half the cost of the aircraft Rotax system.
Either way I will probably need to fabricate the mount.

Sorry about the somewhat low quality of the pictures but my plane lives in a little cubby in the garage and it is too Fn cold to drag it outside. Mine is mounted at an angle at the top of the firewall between the radiator plumbing and the fuel pump. I hope this helps. I did not do this install but it looks to be by the books from what I have seen in the builders manual.

Okay James and Guy, your posts are helping me figure this out a little now.
Guy, the link you posted shows a tank that looks to be the same as the picture in James' post. Do you know if yours is what was supplied with your kit from the factory and did it come with the fittings and oil line? Is the tank thick enough to tap pipe threads into or is it a bulk head type fitting with gasket and a nut inside the tank?
James, can you tell me what fittings are used on the bottom of the tank for the outlet?
I get confused trying to figure out the supply line as my oil injection pump inlet is 5/16 (7.94mm in Rotax speak) but the only oil injection hose CPS lists in their catalog is 3/8.

Yes. This tank was supplied with my kit. When received it had a nice
pipe thread boss welded to the bottom. Unfortunately by the time I
got around to using it it had hardened to the point where it blew up
in my hands. This was during the interregnum after the Skystar
implosion so I couldn't get one from them. I found the one I posted
and purchased a polyethylene bulkhead fitting to install in the
bottom. It's not pretty, because the bottom is thin and not very
flat, but a good dose of polysulfide sealant allowed the tank to
operate leak free for the last four years. If you can do polythylene
welding you could weld on a really sexy boss with pipe threads. Much better.

Here's an update on what I did. I also have a couple more questions about mounting the oil tank. My builder's manual is for a 503 and does not cover oil tanks.
Attached are three photos. The tank is from a Ski Doo. the price was right and it came with all the fittings and a low level warning float and switch. Notice that there is a "Sump" that the bottom fitting sits in.
I notice on the photos I have seen of the rectangular tanks on Kitfoxes that they are mounted at an angle. I figured this was to make one bottom corner a low point for the fitting to prevent unporting. So, I mounted my tank at an angle with the fitting being on the low bottom corner.
I looked at those photos again and see that the one Dave posted a link to in another thread http://www.rotaxaircraft.com/forum/download/file.php?id=210&mode=view shows the fitting is on the high bottom corner not the low one. I can't see the fitting in the photo James posted above so Now I am wondering about this.
Can someone with a manual that covers this take a look and let me know what it says about this, if anything.

Tom, My rectangular tank has the outlet in the middle of the bottom. I mounted my tank slightly on an angle. I did so because that is where the mounting bolts would fit through the firewall, be accessible and miss the frame..

Thanks pat. I think I will redo mine so it sits level. I got to thinking about the outlet unporting and realized the oil will stay put across the tank if I fly coordinated anyhow. Besides, the sump where the outlet is will hold four ounces, if half spills out of that I still have about 10 minutes worth of oil over the outlet.
