I have the old bed-style motor mount. I'm surprised that the lower four corners (as opposed to the top center brace) fasten to the firewall with mere AN3 bolts. I thought it was a mistake in my fourth-hand kit but that is what the plans show too. What size bolts hold the newer ring-style mount to the firewall? Can anyone see any downside to stepping up to AN4?

The only downside to up-sizing your mount bolts that I can see is maintaining edge distance. If that is possible then you can do it I suppose.
A bigger question would be, have you heard of any problems with using -3 bolts in this application? If it ain't broke, etc, etc. There are eight bolts after all.

Hello Craig,

Start thinking that way and when finished you had added so much weight that will perform like an Armor Truck in a NASCAR race...
