I now have 36 hours on my lightning and I have exhaust leaks around the pips going into the muffler. What have others done for this problem. Tex

Hey Tex: I have the same problem, and when I asked the guys in Shelbyville about it They said that they had the same problems and if the leaks were not too bad to just let them be and they may stop on their own accord with more hours.

Tex,
I am assuming you are seeing a little "white" exhaust residu around the connection. I have straight pipes with no muffler on my Jab engine on the Esqual, but I have seen a slight indication of this where the pipes slip fit onto each other. It is an even bigger problem on my Cub engine exhaust. There are several brands of exhaust gasket sealer that you can use to help seal this area. Permatex, Mr. Gasket, and Locktite come to mind. Just make sure you get the high temp kind. Almost any auto parts store will have one or another brand of this "goop" in a tube. You won't need very much at each fitting.
OR, the other thing you could do is replace the pips with pipes. Sorry, could't resist.
Blue Skies,
Buz

If you use locktite high temp silican (copper colour) it will seal the pipes and not go hard like the muffler putty type pastes if you ever have to seperate them.
Cheers Helmut.
