For years now I've hated my accessory outlet covers.
They're rubber, with a nub of a handle sticking up.
The caps like to pop out and not stay in place, and
especially when I'm doing maintenance I have those
stupid caps falling out under my a$$ as I climb
around.
I've seen nice lighter outlets with no-smoking symbols
on them, and even in my car I have one with a nice
low-profile flip up cap. Does anyone have a source for
some nice ones that are flat/flush, and look nice, and
the plug stays in well?
I found some flat rubber plug ones at an auto parts
store, but if I'm going to replace them I'd like
to just see what's the nicest looking available.

Tim,
These are the nicest ones we've installed. The cap flips open and rotates 360* so you can usually get it to a position that works well with any adapter. They look really nice, the orange collar is lit and it glows so you can find it in the dark.

It's a Volkswagen part (Audi if it goes on a Lancair but we get these from Lancair for $35. Order P/N 901-0030 and 901-0031 (body and collar). I've tried finding them elsewhere but I haven't found them for more conveniently (Stein???).

I opted for some Honda receptacles. I really liked the look with square
flip up covers embossed with 12V. Ordered from my local Honda
dealership.
They are not necessarily extra flush.

I agree Tim. someone told me to go to an "upscale" wrecking yard to see if
some of the auto types could be purchased there. I haven't tried yet, but
will let ya know if/when I do.

Found a workable solution....NAPA part number 782-7683. Spent hours
online trying but finally hit the jackpot.

Stein has some nice ones that I have in my panel; no lighted bezel though. His part# SA-9901 for $6.00. I also have some from ACS; their part#11-01294. It is a marine unit made in Watsonville. Durable, but not pretty.

Somewhat off topic, but can someone tell me why some posts display across several screen widths? In this thread for instance, Dave's post and mine are 2.5 screens wide, while the other posts in the same thread are 1 screen width.

Because a HUGE photo was attached. Size down your photos and it won't happen.

Dave, that lighter socket is really cool looking. I think in my
searches online I did run across those for sale somewhere, but
I didn't know for sure how it would look and fit since i'm
retrofitting. But wow, those look pretty. Maybe I'll buy one
just to see how it looks some day.
Attached is a photo of one like what I got. NAPA part number
782-7683
I paid about $5 each, so they were the poor man's way to go, but
far nicer than what I have.
