I removed an exhaust manifold on my 912 and had the stud come out instead of the nut come off. Should I use Loctite 270 or some other thread lock to reinstall the stud?

Pete,
I just went thru the same thing and 4 of my studs came out. I ordered new studs and nuts from LEAF. The studs are supposed to be put back with Locktite 2701 and torqued to 70 inch lbs( I believe) Check the torque as specified in the parts manual.
I called Fastenall, our local supplier of Locktite, and he did not have the 2701. He called Locktite and found out the 2701 was a special mixture and was very expensive. The Locktite guy told him that 271 was very close chemically so that is what I bought. Theoretically you are supposed to replace the exhaust nuts when you remove them. My exhaust nuts were stuck to the stud as yours were and I had thought about just applying the Locktite and screwing them back in but they were pretty grody so I decided to do the right thing with new studs and exhaust nuts. Be sure you follow the Rotax SB on torque's and exhaust flange clearances. I don't recall the number but you will find it (at) rotax-owner.com
