Jeff and I are fixin' to go to S&F this April. We'll probably
attend Friday and Saturday. Would be fun to meet fellow
Kolbers. Anyone going?
Dave
So far, Rick Neilsen and I are flying planning on flying in and camping in
the UL area at the NE end of the UL strip.

I don't know how long I will stay, probably until I get bored.

You all planning on flying?

Looking forward to seeing everyone down there.

We are re-thinking our plan to drive. Having been to S&F many times by car, wishing we were "up there, instead of down here," we may fly if the weather and mechanical gods cooperate. Any advice from the 'old hands' here? We already checked out the S&F web site and notam for arrival info.
We'll probably fly in on Thursday AM and depart Saturday.
How's the field at Paradise city?

P.S., If one of us drives the "chase car," does he have to pay at the gate each day, or will the Kolb's registration fee cover us both?

I meant "down here" on the ground. For anyone who hasn't had their Kolb very long, you remember what that was like-looking longingly at the aircraft as they fly the circuit at Paradise City.

That being said, yes, we are in South Florida. We're based at Pompano Beach (KPMP.) What about you?

David

I just looked at the SNF arrival procedures again. When landing at the
UL/LSA strip it looks like it will be no big deal just come in from the
south and stay below 500' AGL. I haven't landed at SNF before but have
landed at Oshkosh many times and this is much better. John H can tell you
more but hasn't checked in on the subject yet. I know they did have a run in
with a out of line FAA guy once and John W quickly put him in his place.

For self preservation I would stay 500 AGL for at least 20 miles out and
watch for traffic. The biggest problem you will have is seeing land marks
being this low. Check the photos posted for the GA guys before you head in
and make sure you don't go north or east of the UL/LSA strip.

See you there.

I am between Clewiston and LaBelle Fl. west of you. When I fly over your direction I fly around the south end of the lake Okeechobee. It's been awhile but use to fly over for breakfast or lunch.

Gang:
Field at Paradise City is an east/west grass strip 1,500 feet long. Easy in
and out.

Read the NOTAM and familiarize yourself with the attached chart. Adhere to
it and have fun.

I haven't looked at this years NOTAM, so I assume there is a chart attached
for our flying area and restricted areas as well as minimum and maximum
altitude.

Be aware of when the airshow starts and stops. During the airshow, not
props turn. If you miss the window to get into Paradise City, you can hang
out at at South Lakeland, X49, until the airshow is over.

Camping area for aircraft is in the NE corner of the airstrip.

We'll stay the day, and probably Saturday AM.

Folks:

I plan to depart here Tuesday morning. If I can get up and get going early
enough, I can make it to LAL before they close the field for the airshow at
1400 EDST. If not, I have to wait it out until it is over and they open up
the field again, around 1800. I am going to try and get there before the
airshow which. That means I have to get there 1300 CDST because I lose an
hour flying east.

I'll be camping with Rick Neilsen in the UL aircraft camping area at the NE
corner of the UL airstrip. Will probably hang out until Sunday. Will be
spending my days with Travis and Dennis at the Kolb display.

Look forward to spending time with everyone, and visiting eyeball to
eyeball, rather than through this darn monitor.

John/All

I will fly in late on the 12th Monday or early on the 13th and will be there
all week, all dependent on weather. I will be camping under the wing of my
plane.
