Hi all,
Been offline with some other things going on for a bit and now doing some catchup. In case anyone is wondering where I might be:

I've decided again to leave the list, but I want to be honest about why. I initially thought I didn't have a problem (as per my email with Larry C), but in thinking it over I really do.

I found the "well rounded, all weather VFR pilot" exchange I had with John Hauk to be extremely disturbing. It took me a while to come to this conclusion but now having thought it through, I've decided it was enough of a problem for me that it's best I leave the list. This betrayed, to me, an attitude of boldness that indicates to me a lot of pushing of the limits and complacency concerning the risk of what we do in our airplanes. I consider this a very bad (and dangerous) trait in a pilot and one that worries me greatly, especially given the reverence with which the attitude is regarded and propagated on this list.

I just wasn't trained that way and am just not a risk-taker of that type. I'll probably always continue to push back against it, which will I think only increase the signal/noise ratio on the list and just make a mess for everyone else.

So in the interest of the list, I've (once again) decided to leave. I'm still reachable by PM (as I participate in other matronics lists still) in case of any questions/issues, but I won't be participating on the list anymore.

Sorry for the late response, good luck to everyone,
LS

Lucien
Read your post twice and I still don't know what you're trying to
say. Is there anything WRONG with trying to be a "well rounded, all
weather VFR pilot"?
But I'm sorry you're leaving the List, as I'm sure you could learn a
lot there and would be a better and a safer pilot.
You couldn't find anyone with more XC experience than John H, nor
anyone more willing to share info.
Anyway, goodbye.

No sense leaving the list Lucien. Just ignore those things that might offend you. People say things on a computer that they wouldn't normally say to your face. Take it all in stride ...

I enjoy your posts and hate to see you leave ...

Ralph
