The three holes in the brace behind the pilots head, and another three on the other side were left when an old advisory changed the fuel system relocating the fuel taps slightly. These have been left as is for a couple hundred hours of flight but I am hot sure that leaving them open is the best idea. I have the idea that sealing or filling them is required/desirable. How or what is the best way to seal these up? Or should I ignore them?

Hello Dave. Any time you have to drill a hole in metal, you weaken a bit. If you should need to fasten somethin to the framework, use the correct clamps. I do understand you may have not drilled them. The metal tube is stronger than common steel and has a bit more corrision resistance. If it were my plane and she was an expermental, I would weld them shut. First I would purge the frame work with Argon or Nitrogen: some inert gas prior to welding.

In my plane those would be covered by my pipe insulation pad head
rest. I suppose I would put some tape over them too, just to keep
moisture travel to a minimum.

If it was me I would fill them with Hysol, sand and paint.

I agree with Tom, I would debur the holes, (Burs and sharp edges are
starters for cracks) put in a little linseed Oil and plug with some form of
filler, Hysol, JB Weld, etc. As Tom states at that point you can sand and
paint, and as an added measure of protection make it part of your annual
Inspection too closely inspect the area for signs of cracks.
