has anyone had to do anything to the wires/plugs to reduce radio noise?
i've never had great reception/transmission, but i'm guessing it's mostly
wiring and homemade antenna.

My Radio has been ok Gary. However, I have some sort of interferance between
the tach and the radio. Whenever I push the button to transmit (icom handheld
wired through intercom) the tach dies, then when I let go of the transmit it
bounces back to life. First time it happened my heart skipped a beat!
