With the benign stall characteristics of the PH-DIY and plenty of
natural warning before stalling, a stall warner is not really necessary.
But I had already installed the stall warner before the plane was
finished, so I decided to adjust it anyway.

After I adjusted the Europa stall warner to 6 knots above the stall, I
noticed that the stall warner warns when I'm parked at the ground.
Technically this is correct of course, a non flying airplane is
permanently in a stall condition, but is it supposed to work this way?

Frans

I have the same thing when parked into the wind, mine especially shows
this behavior when not parked straight into to the leading wind
direction.
Initially the screaming warner annoyed me a bit, but I have learned to
appreciate the additional confirmation that the stall warner is
operational Wink

Hi Frans,

Ours did that as well, so we adjusted the sensitivity until it stopped
beeping on the ground. It still gave us the in-flight margin we had
originally set it for. I suspect the stall 'speed' is more a function
of the placement of the hole in the wing than the sensitivity
adjustment.

Frans
Do you have stall strips fitted? You should have a stall warner if you don't. Their setting will also affect the stall, sounds like yours are well adjusted.
If you don't have them, rain or bug contamination could have a bad effect on stall behavior so be careful and don't assume anything is constant.

Hi, I am interested in fitting a stall warner to my plane in build, where can I find details of approved type and fitting?

Hi Graeme,

There is a standard Europa mod for this. You can find details on the Europa
web site. Go to http://www.europa-aircraft.com/ . Follow links to
Technical then mods and then look at Mod 61A. I think you will find all
you need in there.
