Myself, Marco, and one other (the owner never showed up at his plane
while I was there) Kitfox flew into Y91...Home Acres, yesterday for a
Dawn Patrol breakfast.

Today, I took part in a Memorial Day fly-over at three small towns
near here. There was a Stearman bi-plane, a C-172, a C-150, a MD-5
Maule, an Ercoupe and my Kitfox. We flew over the Brooklyn, MI
parade, the Cement City parade, and the gathering at the Napoleon
Cemetery. We had tried to coordinate the three flights to avoid
having to land each time, but that wasn't meant to be. So we made
three individual flights, landing and "de-briefing" after the down-
and-back passes at each site. While waiting for the last fly-over
which was to be at Napoleon, a storm was coming our way and we were
hoping to get the alert phone call before it hit...we did, and off we
went....this one would have to be a one-pass deal, and it's a good
thing, 'cause we were getting tossed about a good bit by the winds,
and maybe a bit of propwash turbulence to boot. We made the pass,
broke off toward our respective hangars...the other 5 going back to
3NP, and I made a kind of "missing man" peel-up" and went the other
way home. I was getting some strong winds rockin' me around, but got
it in over the trees and safely home....piece of cake. : ) Five
minutes later, the rain hit.

Now that I think about it, maybe Marco DIDN'T fly in yesterday....I
never saw him actually run the engine. I DID, however, see him run
when I started my engine....maybe it was the straight-pipes barkin',
or maybe the rumor that Jabiru engines throw out a lot of parts when
they run.....hmmmmmm.....: )

Sunday was a beautiful day to fly in Michigan. The sound of your straight-pipe, souped-up Jabiru was impressive, Lynn. Not quite like a P&W R985 but closer to that than the chainsaw scream of my Rotax. I'll need to close-pin some playing cards to my cowl, just inside the prop arc to get that same sound out of a 582. Wink
