I replaced the tailboom tube and reused the H Brace inside and hit every hole right on the money and they was not originally drilled in a perfect straight line, How I did it was mark the old tube so I could get them in exact placement and cut that area out of the damaged tube and place on the outside of the centerline of my new tube then insert the Long bolt through the new tube centerline with original H-brace installed and snug bolt ,"remember which side is which and top and bottom of H-Brace" ,with these pieces on the bolt and through original H-Brace lining up the centerline of my old pieces to the centerline to my new Tube but to get rid of the rivit pieces inside the original H-Brace I cut the weld on the ends of the tubes and dumped out the rivit ends and rewelded the ends back together this was on an original firestar and yours might not be welded closed
I drilled and clecoed the holes on each end both side first and clecoed them in place then drilled through the rest of the holes clecoing as you drill to keep everything snug in place ,this worked for me and this is how I did it
I hope this is help to someone
