Anyone familiar with Darr Field in High point (NC03)?
http://www.airnav.com/airport/NC03
It's in an ideal location for visiting relatives in High Point, but I
don't know whether they allow transient a/c. The length shouldn't be a
problem, as long as there are clear approaches.
Thanks for any insight you can offer.

Suggest you go into GSO, the rw at Darr isn't very good & there are no lights. GSO is real close & EXX isn't far either.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the suggestions. I've always used EXX in the past, but it's
about a 40-45 minute drive for our family to pick us up. The tie down
prices are right, though. I've avoided GSO (the closest) since I'm
no-transponder, & assumed that their tie down prices would get expensive
if I stay more than overnight.
What about INT? Do they have a transient-friendly FBO?

I used to fly a Luscombe based out of Darr and I know of at least one RV-4 that was based there. It's best to land on 31 and depart on 13. Low power lines on the southern end and trees on the north. A couple of cell towers in the area also but they're really not much of a factor. No problem flying in and out but you'll need prior permission for a tie down. The Darrs are good people. Larry Darr would be the contact. Let me know if you would like his number.
These might be options for you also...

Depending on where your family lives, I've been to Hiatt (NC97) with my -9
w/o any problems.
