A friend is having a problem with an indeterminate idle on his dual carb 503. He has fiddled with it
and gotten everything set by the book and it will do fine for a while and then suddenly will drop rpms
for no reason. Any tips are welcome.

Hi Robert,
One thing to check is the fuel pump. The fuel pump may have a diaphragm that
is developing a tear and allowing extra un-regulated fuel into the engine.
Just one thing to check....

Look at the carb sockets. Any cracks, replace them
