I met and visited with Leo one year at a Kitfox factory fly in. I noted he was a senior pilot (Air Force) and during our brief visit found out he had flown 

 WC 130s during part of his career chasing both hurricanes (Atlantic) and typhoons (South Pacific).  I had served with the 54th Wea Recon Sqdn way back when on Guam.  We flew WB 29s then converted to WB 50s in those days.  I was just a radio operator but I was needed.  All our communications was  morse  code once we were out of VHF range. As I was building a S/5 myself I corresponded with him some for advice.  He built a great looking S/5.  He was a great guy.  I still have some of the information saved that he sent me. Thanks Norm.  He lived fairly close to me and  was a great guy.  I will keep your post as a reminder of what he  flew.
