HI all RR Attendees,
I guess the Idea of a talk and discussion of topics is on tab for before or after dinner on Saturday evening. Probably would be best for before. We can save the one on ones for a social/beer drinking time after dinner.
Anyway I've received an e-mail from our friend and USA Europa dealer Bud Yearly. As you all know he has been there with solutions for all of us at no charge on this forum. If they're new things coming down the pike... Bud knows them. If there's a problem to be solved he's had that covered too. I ask him if he could cover some of the wants and some of the new topics ahead. Also maybe some of the on going problems or concern's for us all.
Here is his response.
Jeff,
On topics, I am still getting a lot of emails on cooling issues. Probably good to address that as you suggest. Good topic for people to interact on also. I will curb my tongue and just let a discussion flow.
Next, there was an accident that happened during refueling, and it would be good to have a quick safety meeting on refueling safety and grounding the aircraft/jerry cans and the like. Especially with fall coming and folks carrying plastic cans with wool clothes. Talk about being a Vandergraff Generator.
The other thing was the main spar modifications to the glider wing. I can chronicle the events that led up to a soon to be published Service Bulletin. This will answer some of the questions about what is Europa Doing.
I will also be bringing or flying the latest Airmaster Two Blade Prop. I am doing nearly side by side testing on the original AP332 and AP420 two blade. The AP430 is a new three blade hub which can accept a multitude of blades. I can do a detailed report on that.
I have also finished the LSA initial testing and Vortex Generator presentation for Europa and can comment on the flight characteristics using VGs.
Finally, in an informal session those interested in the evolution of Rotax Fuel Injection I can broach what I and Jason Parker have done.
What do you think? We have 6 topics I can talk about and do a dog and pony show on. Nobody wants to sit through that many topics, so we need to pair it down.
Most important is the SB on the MG wing,
Next would be the Refueling safety
Finally is the long awaited New Airmaster Props.
Problems guys are having are:
Cooling is old hat to me
Solving short field and stall characteristics by use of VGs.
New Rotax Ideas in the Fuel Injection arena
Bud
I think we can agree to just take a showing of hands to Bud at the gathering on which ones are important to us. Plus if anyone has other topics as suggested bring them and I'm sure we could all use the knowledge.
I would rather listen than talk as I just flat out don't know much! My wife says I talk to much at home so I know she wouldn't want me to say anything... I'm good ;o)
Looks like a great gathering!

Sure did.
I am up to my ears in work and I just finished thinking and talking to Bob Borger and Gary Leinberger about your comments. One of these days I need to think about profit.

Jeff,
Could we hold off on deciding "when" until we hear from more folks?
We could consider more than one time period...one thought: we could
convene for an hour, right after breakfast, say from 9 til 10
am...then continue for an hour before dinner...(?)

Jeff-
When you look at the number of topics, an hour would probably fall way short. I would suggest that we start either after breakfast or after lunch and go until we are done. If you poll for topics, there are several out there and all would probably be of interest.
(only my opinion)

Hi All,
Seems like most are planning to arrive Friday, so meetings could be on Saturday. Some topics lend themselves to discussions around an airplane, i.e. cooling issues, AirMaster Prop, VG install, Billet Fuel Pump. Others (MG, fuel safety, fuel injection) would be better in a meeting room. Perhaps we could have a couple of informal sessions at the airstrip, maybe Saturday morning after breakfast (9:30 am?) and after lunch (1:30 pm?). Then a meeting room session Saturday late afternoon (3:30 pm?).
We're interested in all of the suggested topics and think it would be a good idea to tentatively set topics & approximate times so people can plan their other activities.

Hi Jim,Yes I agree we might need more time. How about depending on weather we decide on the meetings. I say this because what better time for those that are still building to go flying than in the AM on Saturday... Or it may be later in the day on Saturday that makes more sense (weather depending). I believe the most inspiring part of building is the thought of flight.
Ii looks like the official gathering needs to be on Saturday as some might not get in till then. Plus... those 2nd day arrivals may not get in till sometime after breakfast. We could make an afternoon of it. Just a thought.
Now the weather is beautiful this AM in Tennessee so I'm going flying... LOL!
