Whenever this comes up, you guys that have been around for awhile roll your
eyes (if you can do that in a forum post). At one time I even looked
through the achieves of the old Zenith list to see what the issue was. I
really couldn't find much information there. This is one of those things
that always gets responses like, "oh-no, not again!" It is always dismissed
as out of hand.
So for the relatively uninformed like me, could someone paraphrase what the
arguments and rationale is toward Scotch Brite?
It's not like this discussion is going to overwhelm the current discussions
occurring on this forum.

Eons ago (March 99), there was a discussion about the composition of scotchbrite, and whether it is advisable to use it on aluminium.
If you search the archives ("scotch & brite", not "scotchbrite"), you will find the posts.
Have fun...

I'm starting on a Kitfox SS and reading some the tips, etc. Guess what color Scotch Brite pad they suggest for scuffing up the aluminum? And what color not to use that has aluminum oxide in it....

nice to see some action on this site again------ I remember the discussion
on scotchbrite.
I was an advocate for green at the time. I like all of the replies to the
questions asked, but no one is giving
the answers to the questions asked-------maroon, green !!!!!
I still think the list has been quiet due to the economy !!!!!!!!!!! folks
are scared of where we are today!!
