Hi all, just a quick question. Should the stranded wire throttle cables be lubricated in any way or left dry? I'm in the process of fitting a Rotax (changing to a Rotax from an alternative engine type) and am about to bolt the throttle box and cables into the plane. Having fitted the cables into the throttle box they seem slightly stiff to move, but admittedly they are not yet connected to the carb throttle spring which should help them to open better.
I'm sure this has been covered a thousand times before but it's new to me so many thanks in advance...!

The cables are notoriously sticky and can give rise to difficulty with carb
balancing. Some have replaced with piano wire. On advice from Conrad Beal
(ConAir) we lubricated with ACF 50 and the cables run reasonably smoothly.
Don't rely on the carb springs to overcome much stickiness, they're not very
powerful.
Other useful advice from Conrad was make the throttle cable runs as smooth
an arc as possible, mirrored L & R and well secured so that the outer does
not move when actuating the throttle.

Gustavo-
I also have a 3300 and build to throttle enclosure as specified in the Rotax documentation, then made a lever out of 1/8 aluminum, then used a Bowden cable. Your other alternative is that Vans has a setup that may be idea. I am not at home now and won't be for a month or so, but can send photos if you need them.
