Hey guys, finally got the cowl fitted up. Didn't take too long... especially if you don't bother to trim ANY of the EXTRA material. Works just fine.
Also finished up the horizontal and elevators... came out great.
All kidding aside, this plane FLEW into LOE, had more traffic of fellow RV'ers than any other plane. It had no N number, no placards, no registration info whatsoever, one flat tire, wheel pants that had a 2" mismatch between halves.... it was totally unbelieveable.
I think the guy got wind of someone going to airport management, so he took off... sortof.... fuel leaks, painted with a roller, eck!
7-9 RV10's at LOE.

Fortunately this wasn't a 10.
The fuel filler tube necks were about an inch proud on each wing. The switches inside weren't even close to being in a straight line, the were literally "just thrown in".
I missed most of it because he fired up and got out. Headed NE out of KOJA on departure. On Oct 3, 2010 12:14 PM, "Tim Olson" <Tim(at)myrv10.com (Tim(at)myrv10.com)> wrote:> --> RV10-List message posted by: Tim Olson <Tim(at)myrv10.com (Tim(at)myrv10.com)>

Whew! Glad it's not a -10!
Sounds like someone who takes as much care as someone cobbling up a homemade lawn mower.
With luck, it'll be uninsured, unregistered, and burn up in a fire as it rests in a tiedown away from other planes. Might be the only hope we have that this "RV" won't take an innocent passenger's life.

Sure looks like a 10 to me.
General shape. Center support bar behind windshield. Elevator looks like an RV.
What could it be if it isn't an RV 10.
I suspect that it will never pass inspection and never be insured. Most planes should be tied down. That plane should be cemented down.
Maybe the experimental warning placard should be in braille since only a blind person would climb in that plane.
Kind of reminds me of an occasional joke I play on first time passengers. I pull up to a late 1960's 172 sitting on the ramp with lots of green moss growing on the wing and windows you can't see through plus two flat tires. I pull up and say "oh looks like We need a little air in the tires". The horrified looks I get... That joke never gets old.

I agree on the support bar, but the front gear leg doesn't look like a -10, and the upper fwd fuse where it connects to the side skins only has one row of rivets instead of the two that the -10 has. also, doesn't the side skin on the -10 roll under the edge at the bottom, and no angle bracket that the front side skin rivets onto. Except for the support bar, that doesn't look like a -10 to me. Scary plane! The last plane I flew that looked like that was a Cessna. Just kidding, of course!

It's good to see that kit quality has improved in later models.
This guy should have gone the quick build route.
