Does anyone thing this is viable?

http://www.apsu-hks.com/HKS_APSU_-_HKS_700T.html
or
http://www.greenskyadventures.com/EnginePricing/HKS/700T-vs-912Rotax.html

it is only 80hp BUT it is turbo and claims excellent fuel consumption.
Maybe at USD16,500 maybe it is worth consideration.

Will,

Other than price, I don't understand the attraction. 80hp with turbo
and ? if the turbo should fail. 500hrs TBO? That's 4 engines for the
TBO on a 912ULS. Hmmmmmm.

Hi Will,
I've looked this over...intriguing...w/ the turbo, EFI, and low weight, it looks like a nice package for someone w/ a pioneering spirit. It's beyond my competence to comment on the available gear ratios, so I'd look for some assurance from someone knowledgeable about mating a particular airframe, engine, and prop combination. Thus far it looks like the applications have been for aircraft much slower than the Europa, and there may be issues which only the "early adopters" will uncover.
it would be intriguing to me to make this engine part of a Europa-lite...watching the weight on everything...and seeing what's possible w/ 80 ponies...closer to the original design, i'd venture.
Having gone the other direction, I've just spent about 9 months making a mounting frame, extensive cowl mods, exhaust system, and cooling system for my MPEFI Sube...more power, and more weight than typical. it's been a bit surprising to me that things have more or less fallen into place or at least appear to have done so...but it's not for the faint of heart...the proof will be in the pudding. I paid $16,500 for my engine, plus about another $2,000 for fittings, hoses, radiators, exhaust components, 4130 steel & welding, etc. As I recall mentioning to others, a high tolerance for ambiguity has helped me reach this point.
Best of luck in your search and decision,
Fred

Well for me at 8500 ft it makes more power than a 912s and is half the price of a 914.....

Will. I just remember the awful vibration that the BMW twin caused. Also the development time will be extensive

Good point -  would make it a 20 year build instead of a 10 year build.

yes I fear that the most sensible option is the tried and trusted Rotax 91X!  I am the proud owner of a 912 turbo in a zenith clone and i have to say it has served me well for 250 hours....
