Am seriously considering opening up the gear towers similar to what Mike Stewart did. This was a suggestion in response to questions I posed about the gear installation and I would like to flesh it out a little more. It certainly makes access to the
#$%&(at)* gear bolts and other stuff inside much easier. My plan A would be to bridge only the the lower 2 lightening holes, rather than all three. Since I haven't installed the gear yet, this would be a good time to do it. All suggestions/comments greatly appreciated.

Hey stan -
I suggest doing a quick search on VAF. I know there's been some discussion about this in the past, including good pictures of what some others have done, and engineering strength talk as well. I can tell you that I didn't build the 8 that I fly, but I have tightened the landing gear bolts. Not fun! I'd say nearly impossible without creating a couple of custom tools.

Stan,
I tried to send you an email with some pics on how I did my towers but your server blocked it. How would you like me to send them to you?
Bill.
