I got a little air time in my Slingshot yesterday after several weeks of not flying and had my new iPhone with me so I attempted a little video. I uploaded it to YouTube directly from the iPhone... amazing. Below is a link to this short video of fall colors on Buffalo's south side. I was up quite high at about 2,500' msl and the ground here is about 700' so not much detail. As you will note it was mid-day bumpy.

I apologize for the format. This is the first iPhone video I've taken and did not know that I could not change it to landscape after taking it in portrait. It is REALLY tall and skinny. Next time, I'll know. Also, to make the upload faster, I restricted it to "medium" resolution which is about 1/3rd the size of the high resolution.

That was a lot more than I expected out of a phone like that. Not jerky, good color. The focus was good enough to see both outside, and the panel. Do more.

I like video clips of landings, take offs, maneuvering, low level and nap of the earth flights, that show the capabilities and fun of flying a Kolb. Possum used to post some good clips of unique flights in his airplane.

I'm probably in the minority here, but that is the way I like to fly - make the Kolb work.

Looking out the window of my 5th wheel sitting in Larry Cottrell's front yard, I am straining to see the Fall colors. No luck. Nothing to color but the sage brush. However, the cottonwoods down by the Owyhee River and any other water source in SE Oregon will show some color soon.

Not exactly what John had in mind, me thinks, but close.
At the same time shows the Fall Colors of SW FL and as a bonus, the infamous Beauford in his Kleenex airplane (aka Kolb Firefly 076)

Just curious but where is "SW FL"? You mean Sarasota area? Key
West? or where?

Russ:
Not sure what the "official" (if any) definition is, but my definition would be Tampa to Naples. Beauford flies out of Airport Manatee (48X), as did I until a couple of years ago, and now fly out of Venice (KVNC). We have others from the Kolb list in or near the region.... some year round and some snow birds. There was talk a bit earlier on the list of having an all Florida fly in/gathering this winter.

Fall colors not quite there yet, but here's two sunset landings and one takeoff in an UltraStar:

Hi Thom,
Enjoyed watching your video, It was nice to meet up with you last weekend and check out your Slingshot but it is starting to get too cold for me here in Buffalo so I will be happy to be home tonight.

Yes... it's long story but the short of it is that the zoning board, rather than setting a precedent and crafting regulations permitting us to fly there, decided that the existing regulations don't actually prohibit it, so we're OK. The second one is indeed Chester.

The camera is clipped to my harness in the first part, and to the bracket supporting the pitot tube in the second part.

Will,
I enjoyed our short visit last Saturday. Your photo of the fall colors is better than what I could see from the air a couple days ago. They finished the construction in front of my T-hangar so I moved the SS and the Sonex from where you saw them to my T-hangar.

I will now be doing maintenance on this Sonex just bought by a friend. It has essentially the same engine as my Slingshot, Jabiru 2200 solid lifter engine. He is now paying half my hangar rent and will let me fly his Sonex for doing the maintenance. Good deal for both of us. Photo of both in my hangar attached.

If you Kolbers with Jabiru engines are interested, the Sonex has a Sensenich 54 x 48 prop and turns up almost 3200 rpm static. I've not yet flown the Sonex but expect slow climb and fast cruise, just the opposite of Kolbs. Lucky me to have access to both Smile.
