Chris,
Do your exhaust gas temps always stay below 1200 at cruise?

Gary,

Yes...pretty much so...I will keep a closer watch and report..but usually what you see is what you get....not sure why more people don't go with the Jab ...

Gary,

You didn't ask me, but I figured you might want to hear from other Jab owners too. My Jab stays pretty much under 1200F EGT most of the time in cruise. I do not have the economy tuning kit installed so under full power the EGTs regularly go above 1200F and sometimes as high as 1300F. I have a second Bing 94 carb with the economy tuning kit installed (newer carb) but have not bothered to try it out yet.

If it ain't broke don't break it.

Chris,
You must have solved the noise problem pretty well, the only draw back of the Jabiru in pusher mode. The inquiry about the temps was because of the low indications in the video.Mine run 1400-1425 with the factory install economy jetting. But my C model is slower by 10-15 mph than yours as well.At 2750 it burns less than 3 gph but only gives me about 70-75mph.Nice video by the way

Tom,
Don't think I noticed the egt's on any of your pictures, but can't mistake the sound of the Jabiru.Have flown over the Niagara Falls area frequently heading up to Rice lake. It's been a few years so really enjoyed the Videos you posted. The noise level isn't bad in the videos. The aerodynamics of that airframe must be a lot cleaner than the Mk-3.

Gary,

At 2700 rpm, the noise is not bad but starts getting a lot worse above 2800 rpm. The 64" diameter prop is a lot noiser than the shorter props at the same rpm. If I remember correctly, you and Chris both run 58" props on your Jabirus. I'm looking forward to flying a friend's Jab 2200 powered Sonex soon which has a 54" diameter prop. I expect that to be a lot quieter.

Tractors are always much quieter than pushers.

The tractor configured Kolb Flyer with Warp Drive taper tips was almost
stealth mode. Same engine/prop on a MKIII would blow you away.
