Work is underway on drafting a new constitution for Iraq. Why don't we
send them ours? It worked for 200 years, and we don't use it any more.

Good grief!

I thought our local paper reporting was of a pretty low standard but this is
apalling.

`The pilot ``PROBABLYhad broken bones" Probably? I thought that reporters
wer supposed to find out things like that.

He "LAUNCHED his plane?. What does he have, a catapult?

"There was "NO FIRE" Wow! There was no explosion either. I wonder they
didn`t work that in?

"THE STUDENTS WERE IN NO DANGER" Our press always work that in. Usually it
is `If the plane had carried on for only 3 miles it might have crashed
close to a school, where if the students had not been on holiday many
children may have been in danger`

Wouldn`t it be nice if reporters worried about getting the story right
and.actually knew something about about the subject.

Pat

No Pat you have it wrong There is no sensationalism in that ,you must make
it read so the naughty ultra light is at fault . It is only by the grace of
regulation that a disaster was averted . Now it will keep 20 investigators
employed for months to work out that there was a engine problem and the
pilot was the instigator of the problem. That makes perfect sense because
with out the pilot the airplane would have stayed in the hanger and there
would have been no incident to report
Just think how many people we keep employed trying to work out the whys. And
Pat I am pretty sure it was you english men { Known as POME on this side of
the world}that started this. Sorry no dis respect ment but thats the world
we live in today .
Regards
Downunder

Hi from Pongolia, to you out there in the Great Cultural Desert,

Nah! that disease may have been inflicted on Oz by the original `whinging
Poms` that were mainly Union hardliners who left England when Thatcher
dropped the boom on them in the UK
We have outgrown them here. At least I like to think so. If we haven`t the
plans announced by the new Coalition governmet yesterday will thin `em out.

Where are you? I have been to Sinny a few times and done a flying tour to
Broken Hill, Cooper Pedy, Ayers rock, Alice. Also a trip from Adelaide up
the Murray and a drive along the Southern coastal road to Melbourne. Been up
in the Rain Forest at Karanga. All this on my way to NZ which suits my age
group better than Oz.

When are you coming to UK? Better take this off list.

I have his name as Keith VanHouser...New Market,Tenn... at least the
address in the story is the same...

I called him from time to time to see how his half Vw engine was
working out on the Firefly... He was quite happy with the
performance..for he had gone to a 45 horse super stroker..

Surely wish him a speedy recovery..and hope his injuries are not
life threatening...

An early version of his half vw engine was on display at the
homecoming one year, mounted on a friends Firestar ...Homer looked
the installation , observed the engine running...His comment was
that the engine vibrated a a lot..Smile .Herb

Herb- The report indicated the plane snagged on a fence. Do you have other info? Give him our best wishes for a speedy recovery and a fast repair on the plane.

We need titillating pictures like that >>

Dont we though!.

Not actually what I had in mind in my little rant about reporting standards.
No one could accuse the Sun of having set the bar very high, but not quite
at such a low level as that crash report.
I thought the wreckage looked Kolb like. Sorry to hear that the pilot was
one of our fellow listers.

Pat

Pat

Keith is too busy to waste his time reading mailing list!!
Smile He is a real go getter.. He bought a motorized wheel chair so
that he could be mobile while the leg is healing..

I figure that the reporting would improve if more of us
crashed...Smile So...I hope the reporting remains amateurish and far
in between...Herb
