Hi again group,
on the 912 80 hp operating in this cool weather we are having trouble with oil temp being to low...i know you can tape the oil cooler to raise the temp of which we did, but we are reading oil temp on a EIS and it seemed to be jumping back and forth and not steady on a temp after doing this....also we have no temp probe on the coolant and therefore without one I do not feel like we should tape the coolant radiator....suggestions please.....thanks ....Jim

Hi Jim,

Don't worry too much over the water temp as it is very close to the CHT since that is where the water runs through. If the oil temp looks like a ping pong ball, first check the wire connection on the sensor and make sure it is tight. The oil temp hopping around is usually a bad contact or wire connection.

I used to have to tape my oil cooler and radiator in the winter and fall. I bought a oil thermostat from Lockwood and it keeps my oil temp right at around 200f.
