|

My friend had thought he lost RPM on the engine, butr in fact, it was
only on the Dynon D170 reading.
A TinyTach showed normal readings, where the Dynon showed a few
hundred RPM less, and even decreased while the engine RPM were stable.
The take-off is from the alternator, 6 pulses per RPM.
Has anyone else seen this problem with the Dynon ?
thanks
Peter

Peter,
Try swapping the Dynon's rpm sense wire to the other alternator output wire. It shouldn't make a difference, but I've found it does on the EIS. Otherwise, just check wiring, configuration and grounds. We've not had any such issues with the Dynon EMS D120; a similar instrument. The D120 can have two rpm inputs (left and right) to suit Lycomings, but just use the 'left' input and don't connect the 'right'.
Cheers, Andy

I had a similar problem. Go back and verify your wiring to the Dynon with the wiring schematic. I had two wires doing the job of one.
