Hi Guys. I'm finishing up my fuel system and had the opportunity to try out my Facet fuel pump. Sounds like a hammering noise. Are they all this noisy or is it just me……Geoff

Did you bleed the system of air? If the pump is pumping air it will be more noisy. It may also make a little more noise with no flow going on.

Yes there could be air in the system. This is the first time use and its exhibiting "flow" peculiarities even though it looks like a simple downhill route. My plans are circa 1990's. Small wing tanks hold about 6 gallon each and feed a 5 gallon header tank. The wing tanks are not hooked up yet. I'm probably jumping the gun here. I should wait untill the wing are permanently on. Typically these 3 tank systems have always had problems with flow. It looks like a "no brainer" liquid running downhill but then it goes back uphill to fill the header tank. From THERE it could be a "no brainer" downhill route to the engine. The pump in the photo is not my boost pump . It is my Transfer pump. Its used to start the flow if necessary. I'm going to shelve this for now and pick it up again when the wings are on. playing with it now may be futile. Thanks anyway Roger......Geoff

Hello Geoff.

I have this setup in my plane and it works very well. I only have a fuel gauge in the header tank and some clear tubes in the fuel lines coming from the wings to the Andair fuel valve. This way I know when the wing tanks are empty. My fuel transfere pump makes this rattleing sound but does not effect me because the sound of the engine drowns that out when I have to use the transfere pump. The pump has been in the plane for 5 years. I am very happy with this setup.

Best regards,
Johann G.

Johann. Nice to hear from you. It's been a while. Yes, I know your fuel system well. So the noise may stay. Oh well. By the way, I think your gross weight would be 960 lbs as its from older plans like mine. How do you like this aspect of your 701......Geoff
