Does anyone know how to properly install this TED coaxial connector to the antenna cable for my King KT76A transponder? It looks like the cable comes into the connector at 90 deg and the center cable conductor gets soldered to the center pin. This is my first transponder install.

Page 12 of the SL70 manual shows what I believe you have described.
The circlip was a real bugger to install. At first, I thought the coax connector wasn't in far enough. The problem as keeping the connector in there while putting the circlip on.
Hope this helps a little bit....

Good Afternoon Al,
I probably should not comment because I do not know what the device is called or where to get it, but there is a long shaft device that will hold the washer and circlip while it is pushed onto the connector.
Surely, some one will have better information.

It also has a circlip and spring washer that looks like it is meant to retain the connector to the transponder case but there is no way to push the connector into the case far enough to slip the washer & circlip around the connector. This is my first transponder install.

A consideration about the "floating" 90 deg. coax tray connector....
When inserting the Transponder into its tray, be gentle. In the past, I
have found that connector with one or more of its outside connector shield
flanges broken off. These were in King KT76 and KT76A. Apparently, there
was enough play in the floating connector and the tray clearances, to where
a ham-handed avionics type, got an interference fit with the outside shield
tang and snapped it off by forcing the unit fully into the tray. I am not
sure what signal problems develop when one or more shielding tangs are
snapped off. The units transmits a high powered pulse return and a broken
shield path may screw things up a bit....
