Travis/Gang:

Thanks for the new web site. I always enjoy looking at everyone's Kolbs.
Maybe you all could put a photo of the pilot/builder with the photo of his
airplane also.

Thanks for being there when we need you all. Hopefully, Kolb folks will
realize the importance of supporting Kolb Aircraft now and in the future.
Life would be very difficult without you all providing kits, parts,
technical support, and your friendship.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from hauck's holler, alabama.

Dennis T/Gang:

Let me update you a little.

There is no "The New Kolb Aircraft Company".

Not sure of their official name but I believe it is "Kolb Company". Brian
wanted his company to look, taste, and smell, like Homer Kolb's aircraft
company. He named it "Kolb Company, Inc." I may not be exact on the
company name, but Travis Brown can correct me if I am wrong.

Brian wants to build and kit airplanes that Homer designed, not fast, slick,
pretty LSA's that fly 120 kts and cost 120,000.00 dollars.

Titus, Alabama - Got some air time yesterday. Still flying my mkIII with a
8 months of barn dust and bug/bird crap on it. Amazing how well Kolbs fly
in any condition. I flew over to Wetumpka Airport to get 10 gal of 100LL.
I am not flying much, just yet, and avgas stores much better than mogas and
alcohol.

Hi Travis,

What is the 'official' name of the Kolb Aircraft Co.?  Is it "Kolb Company"?
Kolb Aircraft Company?  I was just curious.

If I understand correctly, the telephone numbers are still the same.  Yay.
Did the Kolb facility relocate, or are you still at the same place with the 2100'
grass strip?

Thanks,   Mike Welch

Mike W/Gang:

Kolb Company is located in Brian Millburn's shop on the south side of what
used to be the airstrip.

Chesnut Knolls Air Foundation is now a hay field. There is no official
airstrip any more, although a narrow lane is cut down what was the old
airstrip to do test flights.

I have not been up to the factory since TNK sold to KC.

Web sites don't always get updated in a timely manner, and some get archived when they shouldn't. After N582EF got wadded up, I put up a web page advertising to part it out. When we decided to rebuild it, I promptly took that page down, but somebody (or sombodies) has archived it, and 18 months later, I still get phone calls asking if the parts are still available.

Travis, Brian, et al -
First things first:

MERRY CHRISTMAS-- and with high hopes that 2011 will be a Lot better than 2010 was

Now. If you have time can you tell me if there are any active Kolbers in Jacksonville, Palm Beach, Stuart, or anywhere on Flahdah's east coast above Ft. Likkerdale? I'll be driving down after Jan 1 & would like to contact them.
All the best to you all

Hello Kolb Gang and Travis,

It has been a very long time since I wrote to the group here. I have really missed you all, and want to thank you for being so dedicated to the sport we all love.

Here is a photo of my family's beloved FireStar 2, factory built back in 2001 or so. I am sure that Travis offered much to the construction for the original owner (now deceased) Jesse Saxon and his lovely wife Mary Lib who both loved Kolb aircraft so very much.

For now this beautiful bird rests gently in her trailer. NMS503 is her official FAA name, but to my wife and I, we have named her "Izzy" in honor of our recently deceased infant daughter Isabella who was called back to God on December 1 2010, 19 days after she was born. We do not know why God took her so soon, all we know is that His will shall be done, and someday we will fully understand. But for now, we know we have a Saint in Heaven to intercede for us and to pray for us.

Happy New Year and blessings of happiness to all.

My wife noticed a mistake I made in my last message and insisted I correct it...

Our FireStar 2 is not NMS503, but actually N503MS. Her nickname is still Izzy. Thanks to all, and hoping everyone has a wonderful New Year!

-Dana
Bruce Chesnut sold The New Kolb Aircraft Company to Brian Milburn
(Milborn)(Milborne)(sp), who in turn changed the name to Kolb Aircraft
Company, as it was in the beginning.

Brian's (Bryan)(sp) desire is to go back to the Homer Kolb roots. Emphasize
Homer's designs and not the fancy LSA type aircraft that most of us could
not afford even if we liked that kind of airplane.

Kolb Aircraft is a very small company and needs everyones help to stay in
business. It is to our advantage to support them. Kolb is our only source
of parts. Parts that are no longer available can be fabricated at Kolb
Aircraft. Kolb Aircraft is a very valuable resource for us all.
