I have a slight discrepancy in wing tip coordinates between the
chart on the drawing, 6-W-9, and where the spar and channel ends would seem
to indicate they should be. If anyone who has completed this stage is
willing, I'd like some finished dimensions as follows:
"wing tip rear skins" chart, Y bottom, the drawing says 365mm at
station 0, 389mm at 790, with straight line between. My 0 station looks like
it should be 10 - 15mm shorter, and my 730 station 5mm longer than these
figures. I would like the dimensions on other finished wingtips from
the rib 9 rivet line to the finished skin cut, bottom side, at these two
stations.
I hope I haven't made this sound too confusing to
understand.
Thanks,
Lynn

Hi Lynn,
I don't have the dimensions handy, but I just finished cutting the
curve on my top rear skin today. I decided to use the ends of the
spars as the endpoint of the tip rather than the dimensions on the
drawings. I was off by around 5 mm or so. I think the front spar
was 5 mm short and the rear channel was a little bit long.
I think you will find it is more important to have a good rivet
spacing on the angle you have to bend to meet the spars than it is to
have the exact wing length in the drawings. I wouldn't be surprised
to learn the drawings are off a little anyway.
Good luck,
Paul

Lynn,
I just finished my wings and I found the measurements on the
drawings weren't accurate for my wing tips. You need to have your
aileron in place and shape the wing tip to the aileron. I just
adjusted all the measurements based on the amount I needed to merge
with the aileron. So (as an example) if you need to move in 5 mm at
the rear spar, you would adjust the other measurements accordingly.
Then use these new measurements for the other wing. Hope this helps.
